WSSC Backflow Testing — What the Video Covers
WSSC Water requires annual backflow prevention testing for commercial properties and for any residential account with a high-risk plumbing system (lawn irrigation, fire suppression, boilers, pools). If you’ve received a WSSC notice that your annual test is due, the process is exactly what Kirk describes in the video above:
- You call us at (301) 270-6663 — or use the online request form.
- We schedule a visit typically within the same week.
- We test the device on-site with calibrated gauges.
- We register the results electronically with WSSC through the Cross-Connection Test Report (CCTR) database. WSSC requires this to be submitted by a registered Principal Master Plumber — customers cannot self-submit reports.
- We send you a copy of the passing report for your records.
If the device fails, we can repair or replace it the same day — because Durance is a licensed Master Plumber, not just a certified tester. Most test-only companies have to send a separate plumber out, which doubles your downtime.

Do you handle commercial as well as residential plumbing?
Yes. We do residential service work, commercial backflow testing, multi-family residential, and remodeling. Our backflow work in particular is heavily weighted toward commercial and regulated properties.
Do you pull WSSC permits?
Yes — every job that requires a permit. Durance is registered as a Principal Master Plumber with WSSC, so we pull the permit, do the work to code, and handle the inspection.
How quickly can you respond?

Do you offer free estimates?
For most installation and replacement work, yes — including water heater replacement and backflow assembly replacement. Diagnostic service calls (leak detection, drain clearing) carry a service-call fee that’s applied to the repair if you book it.
